Chestertown, Md., June 16, 2010 - The Downtown Chestertown Association will launch its Think Chestertown First campaign on Friday, July 2nd in conjunction with First Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Shops, galleries and restaurants will be open late, and drawings for prizes from Chestertown businesses will take place throughout town.
“Jack the Penguin Acoustic” will play in Fountain Park, where there will be FREE Sno-Cones, popcorn, cotton candy and small American flags. Corn dogs will be available for $1 and soft drinks for 50 cents in Fountain Park.
Downtown Chestertown Association President Nancy McGuire said “We want everyone to feel a part of this very special town, and to partake of everything we have to offer here while enjoying the weekend of the Fourth of July. Our independent businesses are committed to offering the kind of environment where people feel a sense of belonging.” The DCA will be featured on WCTR 1530 AM’s weekly “Homegrown and Green” radio program to talk about the July 2nd event and the “Think Chestertown First” campaign. An “independent” business is defined as a business where business decisions are made locally. It is proven that at least 45% of income spent is recycled within community.
