Evergrain’s core mission is “retro-innovation;” to combine the best of traditional baking theory with the best new technology and ingredients. We also believe in time—an essential element of baking is patience. We give our breads and pastries the time they need to let fermentation work its alchemy, developing flavors to their greatest possible deliciousness.
EVERGRAIN BREAD COMPANY is located in Chestertown, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Douglas Rae, owner and head baker, discovered his passion for baking as a teenager. After completing his education in baking and pastry and food service entrepreneurship at Johnson and Wales University, he returned home and in November 2010 opened Evergrain. Doug felt compelled to share his passion for baking in the community he grew up in by providing high quality products in downtown Chestertown.
